Henley is entering the UK build-to-rent (BTR) sector with the appointment of a team led by Jonathon Ivory, former managing director of Atlas Residential, and launch of a £300m investment strategy.

At Atlas Residential, Ivory oversaw the acquisition and operation of a 1,200-unit UK portfolio. Prior to Atlas, he held positions at the real estate investment bank Carlton Group, specialist property developer The Raven Group and Legal & General.

Ian Rickwood, chief executive of Henley Investments, said:

“Jonathon brings with him an extensive track record and impressive expertise. This will be put to good effect as we seek to capitalise on this growing sector and service the increased demand for high-quality rental accommodation of varying price points throughout the UK.”

The move also builds on Henley’s track record of owning, developing and managing 10,000 residential units across student accommodation, healthcare, social housing and the US BTR sectors.

Justin Meissel, chief investment officer and managing director Europe, Henley Investments, said:

“This marks a significant step towards realising Henley BtR’s ambitions in the UK rental residential sector, and is a natural extension of our firm’s capabilities.”
